Silencing dissent

I was encouraged by the article in Chronicle for Higher Education
(The End of Academe) which reports that colleges are finally confronting the negative impact that silencing dissent is having. Creating safe spaces has created some attitudes that are creating unsafe places. Silencing dissent is an example of what causes the public to lose confidence in universities and this spills over into science which is often viewed as being high-jacked by politically motivated ideals. I’m glad to see that the pendulum may be changing direction.
